Kim Fu named finalist for PEN/Hemingway Award

KimFuB.C. author Kim Fu is one of two finalists for the 2015 PEN/Hemingway Foundation Award for debut fiction for her novel For Today I Am a Boy (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt). The title has also been shortlisted for a Pink Triangle Award, a Lambda Literary Award, the Canadian Authors Association Emerging Writers Award, and was longlisted for the Flaherty-Dunnan First Novel Prize and this year’s Canada Reads debates.

The award was founded by Mary Hemingway, in honour of her late husband Ernest, to draw attention to emerging U.S. authors and their first works of fiction (Fu now resides in Seattle). This year’s winner is Arna Bontemps Hemenway for Elegy on Kinderklavier (Sarabande), chosen by author-judges Chris Adrian, Peter Cameron, and Yiyun Li.

An awards ceremony will take place at the JFK Library in Dorchester, Massachusetts, on April 19.
